EARLY VOTING: Feb. 17 – Feb. 27   |   PRIMARY ELECTION DAY: March 3

Katherine Ferguson for Judge

Republican Candidate for 196th Judicial District Court

Most Qualified. Most Conservative. Committed to the Rule of Law.

Unmatched Experience

I was licensed to practice law in May of 1991. In the 34 years that I have been practicing, I have worked in District Courts across the State of Texas as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern and Southern Districts of Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the United States Supreme Court.

I have also practiced before numerous appellate courts in Texas including the Texas Supreme Court, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, and the Courts of Appeals for the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 12th Districts of Texas.

Katherine Ferguson, Republican Candidate for Judge

I am the ONLY candidate in the race who currently practices in all areas of law heard by a District Court in Texas. I am especially proud of my advocacy on behalf of abused and neglected children who are in the custody of CPS.

I was honored to serve as an Adjunct Professor of Law in Legal Writing at Texas A&M School of Law (formerly Texas Wesleyan School of Law) in Fort Worth, Texas, and as Visiting Professor of Law in the American Legal Studies Program at Marie Curie Sklodowska University in Lublin, Poland.

In 2019, I began serving as the Associate Municipal Judge for the City of Greenville. From 2021 until 2024, I served as the presiding Municipal Judge.

I have been interviewed by ABC News for their program 20/20 and featured in the documentary series True Crime Story: It Couldn’t Happen Here on the Sundance Network. I have also participated in the documentary Texas Justice and the podcasts American Justice and True Crime Story: It Couldn’t Happen Here.

Katherine Ferguson with community supporters

Deep Roots in Greenville

I graduated cum laude and Order of the Coif from Texas Tech University School of Law and am a proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 1988.

I am a Greenville native, a 1984 graduate of Greenville High School, and a lifelong member of St. William’s Catholic Church. I have dedicated decades of service to charitable and civic organizations throughout Hunt County.

Judicial Philosophy

I believe the role of a judge, as envisioned by our Founder Fathers is to be fair and impartial and not legislate from the bench. I believe in tough punishment for criminals. One of the most important decisions to be made by a District Judge relates to the custody of children in divorce cases. I have the experience necessary to render judgments that are fair and in the best interests of children.

I am a lifelong Republican and am proud to have served as the GOP precinct chair for Precinct 107 for two terms.
